May your song always be sung - The songs of Bob Dylan vol.3
2003 2CD, 3LP - Ariola (BMG)
ASIN: B000095XIN

Alexandru Andries (b. 1954 in Brasov, Romania) is one of the most famous singer-songwriters in his country, with more than 37 albums under his name. Winner of a variety of music prizes over the years, he has appeared in over 3,000 concerts in Romania, Canada and US. He is currently working on a new album to be released in the autumn of 2003, and has a Ph.D. in Architecture, teaching at the Architecture And Urbanism University in Bucharest. A real admirer of Bob Dylan's work, Alexandru Andries has published a book on Dylan as far back as 1992, but his interpretation of You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go is part of his ALB NEGRU album released in 1999: a collection of 17 songs of Bob Dylan in Romanian language. For more information on Alexandru Andries and his work, you can visit his official site at www.alexandries.free.fr (Music: Bob Dylan/Lyrics: Romanian adaptation by Alexandru Andries) Ram's Horn Music © 1999 Alexandru Andries & Paul Pinhas Shalit
"In case you're familiar
with this series, you'll quickly notice that Volume 3 is different from the
previous two:
first, it's a double, then it's a digipack, and then you'll see some names in
the track listing that you might not know.
The concept of this album was to gather some of the musically most interesting
Dylan covers of recent years on one compilation.
So you'll see some well known artist names in the track listing, even some songs
that were exclusively done for this project, and a lot of names that you might
not be familiar with, but will make you want to hear more. Apart from US ond UK
artists, there are entries from Spain, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Italy, Japan and
Romania, a few of them even in their native language. So don't fear if you hear
a foreign sound to your ear - it's amazing how these interpretations show their
own charm.
A big thank you to everybody
who contributed to this album, it's been a lot of work, but also a lot of fun,
and to quote from Rex Foster's liner notes, this blesses my life.
The biggest thanks of course to Mr Bob, who wrote all these great tunes and
continues to write them! Finally, a word about the liner notes: the majority of
them were written by the artists themselves, a few by yours truly. So don't
worry about the fact that some are written in a first person and some in a third
person perspective. Remember Dylan is a master in this himself.
Enjoy.
Get in touch if you have something to say or to play. There's gonna be Vol. 4
one day. And watch those paw-kin meters."
